Old Sheldon Church Ruins

     Originally known as Prince William’s Parish Church built between 1745 and 1753 in Beaufort County, South Carolina, burned by the British in 1779 during the  Revolutionary War, rebuilt in 1826, and then burned again in 1865 during the Civil War by General William T Sherman.

    The following body of work is representative of this tragedy. The ruins today are a reminder of the devastation of war. War is the evil that man has perpetrated on himself that leaves a foreordained negative impact on both sides. That impact could lead to a positive or negative outcome in the future. Death and destruction of life and property should not be a means to an end.
